The Northern Experience (2019) is the debut album as a bandleader and composer by Serbian saxophonist Rastko Obradović. Created during a period of artistic exploration and inspired by his experiences in Scandinavia, the album reflects a search for identity through the encounter of different musical cultures.

The project brings together contemporary jazz improvisation with influences from Serbian musical heritage, European jazz traditions, and the openness and atmosphere of the Nordic soundscape. Through original compositions that balance lyrical melodies, rhythmic complexity, and collective interaction, The Northern Experience presents Obradović’s emerging voice as a composer and improviser.

Rather than simply representing a geographical influence, the album captures a personal journey — the experience of adapting to a new environment, discovering new perspectives, and developing an individual artistic language.
